All Ages event

The Art and Ecology Parade was a performance artwork intended to draw participants, audiences and community members into discussions about art and ecology in the Windsor area.  The parade featured local artists, community members and species.  Microscopic organisms, invasive species, home grown vegetables, and household pests were all be represented in a complex re-telling of our local ecology.

The event commenced at The Arts Council of Windsor with a brief presentation about art and science collaboration – and introducing members of the local arts/ecology/scientific communities to audiences and each other.  A variety of art and ecology projects were highlighted in the presentation.  Audience members and participants then met up in the street – where everyone was assigned a prop or duty in the collaborative production of a parade.   The parade will then commenced – with music and rhythm, and spectacle west along Wyandotte to Canada South Science City.

This unusual gathering will provided a creative opportunity for artists / scientists / environmentalists / and community members to congregate and together engage in dialogue towards imagining our local urban ecology.
