Freshwater Restoration Ecology Centre
On Thursday, June 27, participants of the FEMeeting visited the University of Windsor's Freshwater Restoration Ecology Centre (FREC). This research centre, located on the Detroit River— which connects Lake Erie to Lake St. Clair and Lake Huron— is a partnership between the University of Windsor and the Town of LaSalle, Ontario.
The centre serves multiple purposes, including conducting mesocosm research to address water quality issues and facilitating captive breeding for endangered fish. During their visit, participants learned about the centre's various initiatives and had the opportunity to tour the facility, which included an engaging animal show and tell.
