On June 24th, FEMeeting Women in Arts, Science, and Technology hosted the FEMeeting Exhibition Opening, ‘Elegy for a Cell’, at the University of Windsor’s School of Creative Arts. The exhibition was curated by Mireille Bourgeois of IOTA Institute and featured a surprise dance mob in the INCUBATOR art lab bioart lab, showcasing the new theatrical lighting, projections and sound renovations within the space.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2025, the FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science, and Technology hosted a video screening event titled “Tendrils,” curated by Mireille Bourgeois of the IOTA Institute. The event was held at the Multimedia Studio in the Alan Wilderman Building in Windsor, Ontario, and was open to the public. It showcased a verity of video works created by female artists from around the world.

On June 25th, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM, Jude Abu Zaineh hosted a multimedia performance featuring Palestinian food and video projections in the Multimedia Performance Lab at the Alan Wildeman Centre for Creative Arts.

On Thursday, June 27th, the INCUBATOR Art Lab Studio hosted a FEMeeting workshop on plankton painting and experimental photography. The event was led by artist and scientist Jess Holz. During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to create ‘paintings’ using microscopic plankton collected from ponds in the Windsor area. Using a microscope and specialized software, participants were able to create videos similar to timelapse photography.

On Thursday, June 27, participants of the FEMeeting visited the University of Windsor’s Freshwater Restoration Ecology Centre (FREC). This research centre, located on the Detroit River— which connects Lake Erie to Lake St. Clair and Lake Huron— is a partnership between the University of Windsor and the Town of LaSalle, Ontario.

On June 27th, artists Jodi Green and Lisa Sylvestre hosted a botanical printing workshop in the Make Lab at the University of Windsor’s Alan Wildeman Centre for Creative Arts. In this hands-on workshop, participants learned how to extract and capture colour from locally gathered plant materials

On June 27, 2024, JEM Farms hosted an Creative Ecologies Workshop led by artist Garvin Chinnia. This workshop was part of The Creative Ecologies Masterclass, sponsored by SMArt Communications and INCUBATOR Art Lab at the University of Windsor. Students and event delegates from the FEMeeting arrived by bus from Windsor to Leamington to engage in a unique exploration of creative practices and their relationship with local ecosystems.

On Thursday, June 27, the Ojibway Nature Centre hosted a FEMeeting Tour of the Ojibway Park and Prairie Complex in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. This expansive area consists of six interconnected natural sites: Ojibway Park, Tallgrass Prairie Heritage Park, Black Oak Heritage Park, Spring Garden Natural Area, and Oakwood Natural Area, covering roughly 260 hectares.

On Sunday, June 23rd, Art Windsor Essex hosted a FEMeeting tour and workshop, “Welcome to Waawiiatanong Forever.” Led by Julie Rae Tucker, the co-curator of Art Windsor Essex, the tour showcased a photography and postcard project celebrating the representation of women and two-spirit folks and their families in the community. Participants enjoyed insights into the rich diversity of Indigeneity, featuring community members alongside street signs bearing their nation’s name or significant locations in the Windsor area.

On Thursday June 26th, Lauren Hedges, Managing Director of Windsor Hackforge, hosted an insightful workshop at the Hackforge Community Centre. The workshop titled “OpenStreetMap 101: Unleashing the Power of Community Mapping” aimed to introduce attendees to the history and logic of OpenStreetMap (OSM), also known as “the Wikipedia of maps.”
