INCUBATOR Art Lab Studio - Virtual Opening Event

Hosted by Dr. Jennifer Willet
University of Windsor

On September 15th, 2021, Dr. Jennifer Willet and the University of Windsor opened their second bioart facility located downtown Windsor, Canada called INCUBATOR Art Lab Studio. In celebration, Dr. Jennifer Willet hosted a Virtual Opening Event on YouTube featuring INCUBATOR Art Lab team members, neighbors, bioart community friends, fellow laboratories, and even some special guests! The INCUBATOR Art Lab Virtual Opening Event is the third and last of the Sister Labs Virtual Opening of the FEMeeting Watch Party Series.

During the event, Dr. Willet introduced herself to neighbors surrounding the new studio, including the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Artcite Inc., Windsor International Film Festival, Craft Heads Brewery, The California Sushi and Phog Lounge. University of Windsor’s Dr. Nick Papador opened the event with a percussion piece followed by well-wishes from Director of the School of Creative Arts Dr. Bruce Kotowich. Even the University of Windsor’s Associate Vice-President External, Dr. Vincent Georgie made an appearance!

Special guests were sprinkled throughout the video, like Canada’s own Jann Arden, Jeff Corwin, Pelling Lab, Heathy Headwaters Lab, Dr. Emilio Bruna, IOTA Institute, Epoxy Moron and local musician Tony Coates. The event was filled with music, laughter, dancing, balloon hats and an amazing sushi platter!

The INCUBATOR Art Lab Virtual Opening Event marks the first of many community engagement opportunities the lab will bring to downtown Windsor.
