We are Hiring a UWindsor BSc Student!

INCUBATOR Lab Research Assistant and Lab Monitor

This job will include virtual and on campus duties. Applicants should live in the Windsor/Essex Region, and also have access to at home computing and internet services.

Job Purpose: The BSc student will be hired to assist Dr. Jennifer Willet and the Bioart Technician with the following duties in INCUBATOR Lab:
Work as research assistants, assisting Dr. Willet with laboratory based materials research. This includes duties such as: cultivating algae, working with agar and microbiology, microscopy, and plant and mammalian tissue culture protocols
Serve as lab monitor, supervising students in the bioart class working on their projects outside of class hours
Assist the Bioart Technician with cleaning, inventory and maintenance of the lab
Assist the Bioart Technician with prepping the lab for classes and workshops

Required skills / Qualifications:
Ignite Student employees should be in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a BSc Degree with previous lab experience through employment, volunteer work, or coursework. Preference will be given to 2nd year students.
Some experience with WHMIS, Biosafety, and Health and Safety.
Excellent organization skills, and ability to prioritize work duties.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to interact with a diverse lab community of students, staff, artists and researchers.

Starting in September 2023 – April 2024
