Welcome to our new team member, Mariama Henry

Mariama has joined the INCUBATOR Art Lab team as our Bioart Technician.

Mariama is a Scientist and Artist. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Honours Biochemistry with Thesis/Minor in Applied Information Technology from the University of Windsor and Clinical Lab Science, Magna Cum Laude from Wayne State University. She also has a Master of Science in Medical Biophysics/Collaborative Graduate Program in Molecular Imaging from Western University. She has a multidisciplinary science background, and her research interests include genomics/genetics, data analysis/bioinformatics/imaging, ancient history, and ancient civilizations. She also has an interest in mentorship and community outreach/community engagement and is an advocate for Metastatic Breast Cancer. Mariama is also a self-taught visual artist (versed in many fine arts forms). Her artistic work/style focuses on abstract mixed media art incorporating 3D effects, structural elements, and colourful mixtures into her artwork. She also likes to dabble in craftwork projects and making craft designs. Her artwork has been previously displayed/showcased at the Nancy Johns Gallery & Framing 36” x 48” Art Exhibition/Art Sale (August 2021), the Arts Council Windsor & Region (ACWR) online Artist Showcase and Art Sale events: Windsor Heat (Summer 2021) and Mistletoe and Snow (Winter 2021). As of 2022, one of her abstract artwork pieces entitled “The Voyage Into Complexity” is being featured as artwork display at the newly launched McMaster University Black Student Success Centre in Hamilton, Ontario.
